The Real Surf Experience
Pioneers in surf analysis.
The method developed by EasyDrop is considered by many a global standard in surf instruction. In more than 25 years, we’ve taught over 4 000 students from around the world, across every skill level.
In the late 1990s, German surfer Benjamin Kromayer landed in Brasil to develop his Bossa Nova chops — and stumbled into the hidden, paradisiacal town of Itacaré. That’s where our story began.
Since 2017, the school is led by Thiago Setúbal — operational manager since 2001 — and Nígia Vieira, who joined the team in 2006 as a photographer and is today a partner and manager.

Our methodology · the EasyDrop method
O ensino do surf, de verdade.
We learn what makes someone’s surfing actually progress. Then we build the program around it. Four challenges, four answers.
1.
Pouco tempo em pé na prancha
We isolate why surfers spend so little time actually standing — and rebuild paddling, pop-up, and balance fundamentals in safe shore-break first.
2.
Coordenação motora complexa
Surfing demands motor patterns the body doesn’t already know. We break them down on the sand, then layer them in the water until they feel natural.
3.
Exercício para o cérebro
Reading water, choosing a wave, committing — these are decisions, not reflexes. We train them with video review and on-the-spot critique.
4.
Nossas soluções
Small classes, one-on-one video analysis, daily debriefs, and a coach who’s been teaching this exact coastline since 1998.

Notes from the coast.
Engenhoca in May — what to expect from the autumn swell
The autumn season is one of the best windows for beginners on Itacaré’s most forgiving beach. Here’s how we plan the week around the tide.
Why we still teach pop-up on the sand first
Twenty-six years of teaching has taught us one thing: the muscle memory you build on dry land is the one that stays with you in the water.
The Cacao Coast — a guide to your week off the board
Mata Atlântica trails, cacao farms, Maracujá waterfall, and the best moqueca in town. The Itacaré you should see between sessions.
